What Is the Association?
The Low-End Guide Association is the membership body that maintains, reviews, and promotes the directory. It is an initiative to assist the Zimbabwean community to appreciate Zimbabwe — to discover the budget accommodation and outdoor camp sites in their own country worth visiting. Every qualifying location is listed free for its first six months; a small yearly contribution keeps it listed after that.
Association membership unlocks a deeper layer of service — for both location owners and the travellers who contact them. The Association operates as a simple, low-overhead structure: the Guide team handles enquiries, maintains reviewed PDF profiles, and connects travellers with member locations. There are no bookings through the Association — it is purely a referral and quality-assurance network for cheap travel and genuine outdoor stays across Zimbabwe.
Listing Contribution
Every location is listed free for its first six months. After that, a yearly contribution of US$100 keeps it listed — roughly the equivalent of one night’s stay at a Low-End location, and less than a night’s income a month. The contribution is deliberately low so the smallest guesthouse or community campsite can afford to stay listed.
Contributions help cover the costs of maintaining the directory and reviewing profiles, and keep the Association’s wider aim alive: an initiative to assist the Zimbabwean community to appreciate Zimbabwe. All members receive the full package of benefits listed below.
Member Benefits
Reviewed PDF Profile
Each member location gets a professionally reviewed “List 1” PDF that includes verified contact details, curated descriptions, and quotes from satisfied visitors — a superior profile compared to the basic public listing.
Traveller Referrals
When travellers contact the Guide team looking for a place to stay, members are recommended first. The team sends their reviewed PDFs directly to prospective visitors.
Visitor Feedback
The Guide team collects feedback from travellers who have stayed at member locations. This intelligence is shared with members so they can actively improve their service.
Bulk Communications
Members receive a monthly email (or WhatsApp) update with news, tips, traveller trends, and opportunities to promote their location.
How the PDF Lists Work
The Association maintains two separate PDF lists for each member location. These are stored by province and district, mirroring the structure of the public site.
List 1 (Association Profiles) are the enhanced, reviewed PDFs sent to travellers who contact the Guide team. They include verified details, ratings, feedback quotes, and richer descriptions. These are the “superior” profiles that give members an edge in attracting visitors.
List 2 (Administrative Records) are the internal version of List 1, annotated with the identity of the person who gave feedback, when it was received, and any follow-up notes. These are for the Guide team’s use only and are never shared publicly.
The Guide Team
The Association is run by a two-person team. All enquiries, membership applications, and traveller requests are handled by:

How Travellers Get in Touch
If you are a traveller looking for accommodation in Zimbabwe:
- Browse the public site. Use the province and district navigation to find locations that interest you. Every listing includes a contact name and phone number you can call directly.
- Contact the Guide team. Email or call Lorraine or Michael (details above). Tell them what area you are visiting, your budget, and what kind of experience you are looking for.
- Receive member PDFs. The Guide team will send you the relevant List 1 (Association) PDFs — enhanced profiles with verified details, ratings, and visitor quotes — to help you plan a better trip.
- Book direct. Contact the location directly using the details provided. The Association does not handle bookings or payments; it is purely a referral service.

How to Join as a Location
If you run a guesthouse, campsite, farm stay, or any accommodation in Zimbabwe that offers at least one option at US$20/night or less, you can join the Association:
- Contact the Guide team with your location details — name, province, district, contact person(s), phone numbers.
- The Guide team will create a public profile on this site — free for your first six months — and prepare your reviewed List 1 PDF.
- After six months, contribute US$100 per year (about the equivalent of one night’s stay) via the method the Guide team advises.
- Your enhanced profile is added to the Association roster, and travellers start being referred to you.
